WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, President Joe Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law.
In response, Joe Britton, Executive Director of the Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA), released the following statement:
“The Inflation Reduction Act will supercharge transportation electrification and secure tens of billions of dollars in new public and private investments, create millions of new jobs, and make the United States a clear leader in electric vehicle manufacturing and innovation.
“Along with the “Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act,” Congressional appropriations and other actions taken by the Biden Administration, the Inflation Reduction Act finalizes many of the policy goals we laid out at ZETA’s launch in 2020. From encouraging light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicle adoption, to incentivizing EV charger installations, prioritizing advanced manufacturing jobs, and providing strong federal leadership that empowers local governments to transition to electric transportation—the Inflation Reduction Act represents a major step forward in the transition to transportation electrification.
“On behalf of ZETA, I’d like to personally thank Congressional leadership and the White House for drafting, negotiating, and enacting this law. It will bring enormous benefits to millions of Americans and make electric vehicles a success story for generations to come—making everyone better off in the process.”
