WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, the Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA) released its 2023 annual report, summarizing the organization’s activities and accomplishments from the past year. The report recaps ZETA’s legislative advocacy, regulatory activities, and public education campaigns as the first industry-backed coalition of its kind advocating for 100% electric vehicle (EV) sales in the U.S.

“This year has been a turning point for the electric vehicle and battery supply chain, and there is still a lot of work ahead,” said Albert Gore, Executive Director of ZETA. “ZETA has worked aggressively to defend the legislative and regulatory progress of the last two years and to articulate the case for a transition to zero emission transportation on the shortest possible timeline.”

One of the hallmarks of the past year was the 2023 EV Awards, which took place in Union Station’s East Hall and welcomed more than 200 guests to celebrate the industry’s accomplishments and honor its champions. Speakers included Energy Secretary Jennifer M. Granholm, Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer, Senator Lisa Murkowski, Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, Representative Buddy Carter, and Joint Office of Energy and Transportation Executive Director Gabe Klein. Former Vice President Al Gore also surprised the audience with remarks. During the program, Majority Leader Schumer was awarded the “Policy Pathfinder” award, and Senators Murkowski and Cortez Masto were awarded the “Supply Chain Groundbreakers” awards.

“The 2023 EV Awards was an opportunity for us to celebrate the work that the industry had done over the past few years and to reinforce our commitment to see that work through,” added Gore.
