WASHINGTON, D.C.—On Thursday night, Congressional leaders came to an agreement on the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022—paving the way for the formal reconciliation process to move forward today. This bill will deliver long sought after investments and policies for the zero emission transportation sector.
In response, Joe Britton, Executive Director of ZETA, released the following statement:
“The Inflation Reduction Act will create millions of good paying American jobs, drive domestic manufacturing, lower consumer energy and transportation costs, and protect Americans against emissions and unhealthy air caused by tailpipe pollution. We are grateful for the tireless efforts of advocates, industry, and Congressional leaders to fulfill these public interest goals and improve how the United States creates and uses energy in a cleaner and more resilient way.
“With the passage of this bill through Congress and the signature of President Biden, the United States will achieve what has been decades in the making—an ambitious, practical path to emissions reduction that embraces domestic manufacturing and technological innovation. This bill sets high standards that will challenge the sector to move quickly, but represents an historic investment aimed at accelerating transportation electrification. For that, we eagerly support its passage into law.”
