Washington, D.C. - Today, the Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA) welcomed the plan introduced by Colorado Governor Jared Polis designed to stimulate the state’s transition to electric vehicles (EVs). The plan introduced Thursday addresses the steps needed to build charging infrastructure and includes incentives for drivers. The plan does not include a ban on internal-combustion vehicles to meet the administration’s goal of transportation electrification. 

“This is a solid approach by the State of Colorado, and we welcome their efforts to electrify transportation in the Centennial State,” said Joe Britton, the Executive Director of ZETA. “With the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the federal government has shown its commitment to EVs. Efforts like the one in Colorado show that state leadership is also answering the call to lower our emissions and build out a strong domestic supply chain to manufacture EVs and create EV infrastructure. ”

‍Colorado is currently ranked 8th in EV ownership among U.S. states, representing 2.5% of all EVs registered nationwide according to analysis by ZETA.
