FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 10/29/2021
Washington, D.C. – The Zero Emission Transportation Association Education Fund (ZETA Education Fund) is pleased to publicly announce the appointment of Laura Sherman, Ph.D., Beverly Scott, Ph.D., and Reuben Sarkar as board members.
The ZETA Education Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to educating the general public about the benefits of zero-emission transportation. From publishing academic white papers to sponsoring digital advertising campaigns, the ZETA Education Fund seeks to advance the national conversation about EVs and federal zero-emission transportation policy. Through the ZETA Education Fund’s work, the public and policymakers alike can learn more about various topics related to EVs, such as advanced manufacturing, fleet electrification, sustainable critical mineral extraction, light-duty consumer incentives, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
“I am proud and excited to serve on the ZETA Education Fund Board to help leverage Michigan's ingenuity and innovation to advance the transportation electrification policies that will create jobs, support new supply chains, and spur economic development across the country and globe,” said Dr. Laura Sherman, President of the Institute for Energy Innovation and Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council. “As the automotive capital of the world, the path to 100% vehicle electrification runs through Michigan. Luckily, Michigan companies and local governments are embracing and leading the way toward our automated, connected, electrified, and shared mobility future.”
“I am a staunch believer that ‘Our People are our Greatest Resource,’” said Dr. Beverly Scott, CEO of Beverly Scott Associates, LLC. “That said, today we have a ‘people-readiness’ crisis in this critical area which needs to be elevated and urgently addressed. Currently, people are not sufficiently educated about EVs, which will inhibit them from adopting and utilizing zero-emissions vehicles at the accelerated pace needed to meet our climate change and emissions reduction targets. At the same time, this challenge also provides us with a tremendous opportunity to make investments in ‘good’ jobs, with particular attention to people and communities that have all too frequently been under-represented and under-resourced.”
“Providing education to consumers for zero-emission transportation is as important a factor in driving market adoption as having well developed technologies or effective policies,” said Reuben Sarkar, President and CEO for the American Center for Mobility (ACM). “I am eager to serve on the ZETA Education Fund board to contribute to this vital public education about the environmental, public health, and economic benefits of zero-emission transportation.”
