WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Zero Emission Transportation Association’s Executive Director, Albert Gore, issued the following statement on the long-awaited bipartisan Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024, introduced by Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Joe Manchin and Ranking Member John Barrasso.
“The ongoing expansion of the electric vehicle sector presents immense opportunities for the United States to create hundreds of thousands of jobs across the country, reduce emissions in the transportation sector, and accelerate American competitiveness in advanced manufacturing. Unleashing this potential and ensuring the continued success of the American market requires a predictable and expeditious permitting process for mining, manufacturing, and refining projects while maintaining a high standard of environmental protection.
“ZETA commends Chairman Manchin and Ranking Member Barrasso for their tireless work on the bipartisan Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024. This legislation is a critical first step in ensuring the entire EV supply chain continues to flourish in the United States, now and in the many years to come.”
