Washington, D.C.—The Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA) announced today that Albert Gore took over as Executive Director effective January 3, 2023. Gore joins ZETA after seven years at Tesla, most recently as the Lead for Public Policy and Business Development in the Eastern and Midwestern United States—having previously been Deputy Director of Policy and Electricity Markets at SolarCity prior to its acquisition by the company. Joe Britton, ZETA’s previous Executive Director, will remain President of ZETA’s Board of Directors.
“The past two years have been an amazing period for ZETA and transportation electrification,” said Joe Britton. “Much of the conversation around EVs over the next few years will focus on implementation and deployment following the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Albert’s experience, policy acumen, and leadership abilities will help ZETA enter into a new frontier as we support the implementation of these landmark bills.”
As Executive Director, Gore will be tasked with leading the ZETA team through the legislative, regulatory and communications challenges on the horizon. He will serve as a primary conduit between policymakers, advocates and industry, providing information and insight to help rally EV stakeholders to accelerate transportation electrification. Gore will also focus his energies on growing the organization, establishing an upgraded policy platform and further developing ZETA’s capacity to provide leadership in the EV sector.
“Joe and the ZETA team have accomplished a lot in the last two years, and I am excited to work with such a committed and knowledgeable group,” said Albert Gore. “It is a thrilling time for the electric vehicle industry. Landmark investments up and down the supply chain will make EVs more accessible for American families and create thousands of jobs throughout the country. My priority will be to work closely with ZETA members and policymakers as this transformational consumer and industrial policy is implemented. Our goal is to ensure that the transition to the future of transportation benefits all Americans.”
ZETA has accomplished two-thirds of the policy goals it set out to achieve at its launch in November 2020. Much of this was achieved through the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). Most recently, ZETA welcomed the U.S. Postal Service plans to electrify its mail delivery fleet. ZETA had been a longtime advocate for USPS fleet electrification.
